Yuhwa Son

"I am exploring the possibilities of painting. The work could be defined as Three Dimensional Painting because it is sculptural, so the 3Dpainting is on a boundary between sculpture and painting. This work is started from questions; what is painting in contemporary art, what is the boundary of painting.

The idea is essentially to draw and paint everyday objects with oil paints in order to explore contextual harmony where the paintings look effectively more similar to each object. The work is pretending objects and deceiving eyes. When the viewers notice that it is art, not an object, this kind of work achieves their function as art."
