All UK based artists graduated since 2005, and whose primary medium is painting or drawing, are invited to apply for the Griffin Art Prize 2012. Entry is £10 per application. Please read The Rules before applying. The closing date for submissions is 31st August 2012.

The Griffin Art Prize 2012 Exhibition

The panel of judges will select a shortlist of 10 artists from the digital submission. These artists will exhibit their work in the Griffin Gallery from 9th to 30th November 2012 (inclusive).

The announcement of the artists selected for the Griffin Art Prize 2012 exhibition will be made on 2nd October 2012. Those chosen will be invited to The Studio Building on October 8th to visit the Griffin Gallery, studio spaces and other facilities. During this visit, it will be possible to discuss any considerations regarding the selection and hanging of works for the exhibition. After the visit, the artists will be asked to write a short statement of intent for the residency. This should be delivered along with works for the exhibition, on 2nd November.

Griffin Art Prize 2012

The judges will select the winner of the Griffin Art Prize 2012 from the shortlist exhibition. The winner will be announced at the private view in the Griffin Gallery on 8th November.

The winner must be able to take up residency in The Studio Building, Evesham Street London W11 4AJ from March 2013 and continue until his / her one person show in the Griffin Gallery in September 2013.

The winner will have a studio fully stocked with products of choice from Winsor & Newton, Liquitex and Conté à Paris.

The winner will receive a small allowance to help meet travel and other costs.

The winner will be required to sign a contract outlining expectations for the duration of the residency.
