Designed to have meaningful impact on the career of one emerging artist, the Griffin Art Prize is an annual residency and exhibition award for UK based artists in painting and drawing. It provides the time, space, materials and support to develop work for a one-person exhibition.

The Griffin Art Prize winner will have unique access to a large studio in London. Materials of choice are provided by the world’s leading fine art brands, Winsor & Newton, Liquitex and Conté à Paris. The six month residency culminates in a solo exhibition at Griffin Gallery.

During the private view of this showcase exhibition the winner of Griffin Art Prize 2015 will be selected by the judges and announced.

The judges look for innovation in painting and drawing, commitment to practise and for the potential to benefit from the residency.

Each stage of the Griffin Art Prize provides a platform for professional exposure. To make the long list is a considerable achievement; the short-list exhibition is a popular and well attended event that attracts collectors, critics, art world professionals and the general public. The winning artist’s solo exhibition at Griffin Gallery is a high-profile showcase accompanied by a catalogue.
