"My practice explores the physicality of painting and the evocative potential of both structure and materiality. I work mainly with un-stretched canvas, linen, cotton and hessian, exploring how folds, creases, layers and movement within the materials cannot only act as a form of mark making but also reference the body. I also engage with how the sensual immediacy of paint can affect the way we experience these materials.
My work goes beyond the boundaries of the picture frame, to amplify the physical presence of painting, the resonance of materials and structures, whilst still continually referencing the history of painting."
Exhibited at Griffin Gallery in Young Gods in January 2016.
