Alexandra Berg

Alexandra Berg received her master's degree at the Royal College of Art in London and currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California.

Her small-scale drawings inherently speak to a desired intimacy between the work and the viewer. Most often stemming from appropriated imagery, Berg locates herself within unwitting collaborations and exchanges between herself and the anonymous photographer. Her works, though skilful, have less to do with mimicry than they do with observation, investigation and memory. They convey a desire to uncover abstraction within the realm of realism and the seemingly fictitious nature of fact. Her adept graphite-pencil renderings display stillness and patience called for by both artist and viewer.

Berg’s work has been represented by ACE Gallery in Los Angeles and can be found in esteemed collections including Paul Simon and Doug Christmas.

Exhibited at Griffin Gallery in Young Gods in January 2016.
