The Griffin Art Prize is open to all UK based artists who have graduated since 2005 and whose primary medium is painting or drawing.
To enter applicants must complete the online form on the Apply page and submit with the following:
- An artist’s statement in word/pdf maximum 500 words
- A C.V. in word/pdf
- Four jpegs images of four different original works by the artist, each image maximum 1 mb. Each jpeg titled with artist’s surname, then first name, followed by the title of work in apostrophes, followed by medium, dimensions in cm, year of completion and sale price
- An entry fee of £10 payable by PayPal, use full name for reference on payments
The closing date for submissions is 31 August, 2012.
A panel of judges will select a shortlist of ten artists from the digital submission.
The announcement of the ten selected artists will be made on 2nd October 2012.
The ten artists will be invited to a tour of the Griffin Gallery, studios, Tea Room and facilities at The Studio Building on 8th October 2012.
Following this the artists will be asked to write a short statement of intent for their residency – should they win - and this should be submitted by November 2nd.
These ten artists will show their work in a prestigious exhibition at the Griffin Gallery from the 8th to 30th of November 2012 (inclusive).
The judges will select the winner of the Griffin Art Prize 2012 from the shortlist exhibition and will announce the winner at the private view of the exhibition at the Griffin Gallery on 7th November.
The winner must be able to take up residency in The Studio Building, 21 Evesham Street, London, W11 4AJ from March 2013 until their solo exhibition at the Griffin Gallery in September 2013.
The winner will be required to sign a contract outlining expectations for the duration of the residency.
