Residency: The Fine Art Collective

Kunstakademie Dusseldorf

3 – 28 September 2018

The Residency:

The Fine Art Collective (TFAC) is a global social network for artists, with art materials at its heart. This residency enables TFAC members to realise projects or undertake research otherwise unfeasible within their place of study or work. Griffin Gallery encourage innovative projects that focus on exploring materials through their composition, interaction or application.

Kunstakademie Dusseldorf:

Magdelana Netta is a student under Professor Yesim Akdeniz at the Kunstakademie Dusseldorf.

Using floral elements I am working on a visual solution with the flower as a metaphor. I am very interested in the difficulties the use of floral elements brings with it. It brings up the problem of clichés as well as the assumption that this motif seems to be on every sort of product as a decoration. It fascinates me when my paintings take on the form of a product on less traditional painting surfaces.
