The Open offers three prizes for outstanding work, the Conté à Paris Drawing Prize, the Liquitex Acrylic Painting Prize and the Winsor & Newton Pating Prize. For each prize one artist will win £1000 cash and £3000 worth of art materials.
Open to all artists aged over 18 and working primarily in painting and drawing, the judges have selected 99 artworks for the exhibition by 93 artists, including work from as far away as Singapore and Japan. The winners will be announced at Griffin Gallery on Wednesday evening.
On the judging panel were painter Ian Davenport, Saatchi Gallery Chief Executive Nigel Hurst and Griffin Gallery Director Becca Pelly-Fry. The aim of their selection was to reward innovation, skill and commitment to practise.
