Duncan Bullen has worked almost exclusively with pencil and paper for the last decade reducing his mark making vocabulary to mere dots. Although the “dot” can be said to be the most reductive form of mark making, these are rendered in beautifully complex linear compositions that describe movements of thread like fragility. The lines that the dots map out are often gradated with chromatic hues that billow in and out of the structures lending the works a subtle and breath-like quality.
